Meet Scarlet

She’s a real dog!

Author Emily Liner adopted Scarlet in 2017. The inseparable duo enjoy reading with kids and seniors with People Animals Love, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC. Founded in 1982, PAL’s mission is to use the human-animal bond to comfort the lonely, ease the pain of the sick and enrich the world of at-risk children. 5% of the profits from sales of this book are donated to PAL. All About Scarlet

Breed: Beagle mix. Her DNA test said she is 50% Beagle, 12.5% Pomeranian, 12.5% Toy Fox Terrier, and 25% “other”.

Size: Scarlet is about 16 pounds, or small enough to fit under a plane seat. The Pomeranian may be why she is so small!

Age: We don’t know for sure since Scarlet is a rescue, but she is probably around 6. (A lady never tells!)

Rescue group: Scarlet was found at an animal shelter in South Carolina and transported by K-9 Lifesavers to Washington, DC, where she was adopted by Emily. The rest is history!

Favorite pastime: It’s probably a tie between snoozing and walkies.

Favorite treat: Scarlet loves getting people food — and her favorite is ice cream! When Scarlet and Emily lived in DC, Scarlet enjoyed getting vegan peanut butter “dog sundaes” from Mount Desert Island Ice Cream and “puppy pops” from Pleasant Pops.
